| Well there wont be an assignment for this one for I don't have anymore planned right now so you guy don't have to worry too much. Now this lesson will be about spell speed and card/effect chaining. So lets begin with what a speed spell is. A spell speed is how fast a card or effect can be played or activated. Now there are three types of spell speeds: spell speed 1, spell speed 2 and spell speed 3. Now a spell speed 1 is a basically a standard activation such as activating a normal spell, continuous spell, ritual spell, equip spell, field spell, setting a pendulum monster in the pendulum zone or activation of a standard effect. A spell speed 2 are able to chain to other cards with a spell speed of 2 or lower(also I forgot to mention that spell speed 1s cannot be chained to other card/effect activations), but cannot be chained to a spell speed 3, all spell speed 2 cards are: quick-play spell, normal traps, continuous traps and quick effect(card effects that can be activated during either player's turn[will most likely state, "during either player's turn, you can activate this effect"]). And spell speed 3 cards can be chained to cards with a spell speed of 3 or lower(basically only a spell speed 3 card can be chained to another spell speed 3), these cards are counter traps. Now to go over how chains work. A chain happens when a card/effect is activated is response to another card/effect activation(Ex: a mystical space typhoon activated in response to a call of the haunted being activated). Now remember that only cards that cam be chained to another card/effect's activation is a spell speed 2 or higher, but also remember that a card can only be chained to another card with a spell speed equal or lower than in value(that means you cant chain mystical space typhoon to a solemn warning, since solemn warning is a spell speed of 3 and mystical space typhoon is a spell speed of 2). Also a chain resolves from the last card activated to the first card activated. Also a card effect can only resolve after the last card/effect activated in the chain resolves and then the previously activated card/effect resolves and so forth. Now since there will be no assignment you wont have to worry about doing anything. Also my next lesson will be about card effect timing, priority and negation. I hope you guys enjoyed this quick lesson and best of luck dueling. | |
